Forum Upgrade - New Forum Accounts

Hi All,

You may have noticed that the forum has been offline for the last week. This was so we could upgrade the forum to a new mobile friendly version. You should now find that the forum is much more user friendly whenever accessed via a Mobile Phone or Tablet.

Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the upgrade was that we had to delete all previous forum accounts. This means that if you previously had a forum account, then you will have to recreate your account if you'd like to comment in the forum, or take part in any other way.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this. However, I'm sure you'll agree that the benefits of having a mobile friendly forum, far outweighs the inconvenience of having to recreate your forum accounts.

Please remember that when creating a forum account, you will be sent an email after registration that contains an forum account activation URL that needs to be clicked in order to activate your forum account. Failure to do this will mean that you will not be able to post in the forum.

Please let me know if you experience any strange behavior while accessing the forum and I'll be sure to look into it for you.

    Welcome to the EightPixelsSquare Forum

    On behalf of everybody here at EightPixelsSquare, we’d like to warmly welcome you to our forum. We truly hope you enjoy you time here with us!

    To create a new thread
    • Click on the game forum that you'd like to post in
    • Next click on the sub-forum category you would like to post in
    • Click on the ‘+ New Topic’ button located in the top left of the page
    • In the ‘Enter Title’ section, give the thread a title relating to the question you would like to ask
    • In the main thread area type your question, remember the more details you give here, the more likely you are to get the answer you're looking for
    • Click the ‘Post’ button located in the lower right-hand side of the screen

    To comment on a thread
    • Open the thread you want to comment on
    • Click the 'Post Reply' button located at the top of the page, or alternatively you can scroll to the bottom of the thread and type your reply in the 'Quick Reply' box
    • Type your reply to the thread and remember all comments must follow the ‘Forum Rules

    To edit a post you’ve already made
    • Find the post that you’d like to edit
    • At the bottom of the post you should notice a button that says ‘Edit’ on it, click on this
    • When you’ve finished editing your post click on the 'Save' button

    To delete a post
    • Find the post that you’d like to delete
    • At the bottom of the post you should notice a button that says ‘Edit’ on it, click on this
    • Click on the 'Delete' button
    • A pop-up menu will appear simply click on the ‘Delete’ button once more to delete your message

    PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to delete any of the threads that you have created as this would also delete every other post within the thread, whether they were posted by you or not. If you require one of your threads to be deleted then please contact either an Admin or a Moderator.

    To add images to your posts
    • First you will need to upload your image to the image hosting site of your choice such as,, or
    • Some image hosting sites will give you the option for the image BBCode that is used by the forum to display your image, if this is the case then please use the BBCode option and paste it directly into your comment.
    • If the image hosting site doesn’t offer BBCode as an option, don’t worry you can still just use the direct image URL
    • Copy the direct image URL from the hosting site
    • In your Forum comment, click on the A button to bring up the Advanced Editor options and click on the ‘Image’ button
    • The ‘Image Properties’ menu will appear, paste the URL to your image into the URL box and untick the ‘Retrieve remote file and reference locally’ button.
    • You can also change various other image settings here but for the purpose of this guide we’ll just post the image by clicking the ‘Post’ button.
    • Your image should now appear in your comment.

    To quote the person that you are replying to
    • Within the thread find the comment that you would like to reply to
    • At the bottom-right of each comment you’ll notice that there are a few icons, Like, Flag & Quote. Simply click on the ‘Quote’ button and their comment will be placed at the top of your reply as a quote
    • Now simply type what you would like to say and click the 'Post' button
    • Your post should now contain the quote followed by your comment

    To quote multiple people that you are replying to
    • Find the first comment you want to reply to
    • As you did above with a single quote, click on the ‘Quote' button this will populate the reply box with the first quote
    • Move to the next comment that you would like to quote and repeat this process
    • Each time you click on a comment’s quote button the comment will be added to your comment in the order clicked
    • Type your comment directly after the final [/QUOTE] tag in your comment

    To change your Avatar
    • At the top-right of the forum you’ll notice your username, which if clicked will open a small user’s drop-down menu. From the user’s drop-down menu click on the ‘My Profile’ option
    • On the left of the screen below where it says, ‘User Profile’, you’ll notice the default Avatar, if you hover/tap on this you should notice an ‘Edit Avatar’ button appears, click on this button
    • The following screen allows you to choose where the forum will get your new Avatar image from, the options are to upload from your Computer/Device or to paste in the URL to the image you would like to use as your Avatar, or alternatively you can simply use the default Avatar.

    To change your Signature Text
    1. After you’ve clicked on the ‘My Profile’ button from the user’s drop-down menu, click on the ‘Edit Settings’ button on the left of the screen
    2. On the next screen click on the ‘Account’ tab
    3. Scroll down to where it says, ‘Conversation Detail Options’ and click on the ‘Edit Post Signature’ link
    4. A text entry box should now appear allowing you to type what you’d like to have as your signature which will appear at the bottom of every thread, post or comment that you make within the forum
    5. If you’d like to format your signature text, then click on the A icon to bring up the ‘Advanced Editor’ here you can change the font settings, type, size, color and so on…
    6. Once you’re happy with your signature, click the ‘Save’ button and you should now see your new signature on every post you’ve previously made and on every post you will make in the future.

    To change your Signature Image
    1. Firstly, follow steps 1-4 from above
    2. Now click on the ‘Paperclip’ icon to bring up the ‘Attachments’ options.
    3. You now have two options for uploading your image, you can either click on the ‘Upload Attachments’ button or the ‘Upload from URL’ button
    4. To upload an image from your computer/device click on the ‘Upload Attachments’ button and then browse to the location of your image and select the image (PLEASE NOTE: signature image dimensions can be no larger than 750x100 Pixels and with size no larger than 300KB)
    5. You should now notice a small thumbnail of your signature image appears with two links next to it ‘Thumbnail’ and ‘Remove’ with the title of the image below that.
    6. Click the ‘Thumbnail’ link and you should now notice that [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] appears in the signature box.
    7. Click the ‘Save’ button and you should now see your new signature on every post you’ve previously made and will make in the future.
    8. If you’d like to make changes to the image alignment, as well as other image properties, then simply repeat step 1 and then double click on your signature image in the ‘Edit Post Signature’ box. The ‘Image Properties’ menu should now be displayed, here you can change your image Alignment as well as a few other image settings, experiment until you find the setting you like for your signature and then click ‘Save’.

    To change your Location
    • After you’ve clicked on the ‘My Profile’ button from the user’s drop-down menu, click on the ‘Edit Settings’ button on the left of the screen
    • Scroll down to near the bottom of the ‘Profile’ tab and you’ll find the ‘Location’ setting
    • Enter whatever location you’d like, it can be real or just for a bit of fun you can enter something comical, the choice is yours.

    To add Friends/Subscribe to Friends
    • Click on the Avatar of the person that you’d like to ‘Subscribe’ to and this will take you to their profile
    • Ensure that you are currently on the ‘Activity’ tab.
    • Finally, click on the ‘Subscribe’ button located to the right of the ‘Private Message’ button
    • The user will then need to accept your subscribe request.

    To send a Private Message
    • Click on the Avatar of the person that you’d like to send a ‘Private Message’ to and this will take you to their profile
    • Ensure that you are currently on the ‘Activity’ tab.
    • Click on the ‘Private Message’ button and this will take you to the private message screen.
    • Type in a subject and the message you’d like to send (remembering to follow the 'Forum Rules') and then click on the ‘Post’ button.

    To chat with another member of the Forum
    • If a user is available for ‘Chat’ you will notice a small speech bubble icon to the right of their username, simply click on this icon to open the forum ‘Messenger’ app
    • Simply type the message you’d like to send to the user and then click on the ‘Post’ button.
    • The user will then receive a notification of a new message and if they are currently online then they will be able to join the Chat session. However, if they are currently offline then they will receive the message the next time they login and they'll be able to reply as normal.
    • If you were the user that started the ‘Chat’ session then you are also able to add other users to the same ‘Chat’ session, but only once you have posted at least one message in the session. To do this simply click on the ‘Settings’ cog located at the top of the Chat Window, then click on ‘ADD PARTICAPENTS’ and follow the instructions on-screen

    User-Titles and why they change
    • ​Your user-title is determined by how many posts you have made in the forum

    Reputation and why it changes
    • ​Your Reputation is determined by how many ‘Likes’ your posts have received from other members of the forum. At the bottom-right of each thread/comment in the forum you will see a ‘Like’ button, like that used by Facebook, which if clicked will increase the owner of the comment’s reputation. (PLEASE NOTE: Clicking the ‘Like’ button will not post anything to Facebook)
